We’re a twenty-something couple who live together in Surrey. We met online (no, not a dating site!) about 10 years ago now.
We’ve been together for 6 years now, living together for 2 years and engaged for just over 3 weeks at this point.
I knew it was coming but it was still the best day of my life so far. My fiancé knows I hate surprises so he let me know roughly when it was going to happen. We were planning on a week long break back to Wales and he told me it was there he wanted to do it as there was a specific place he had in mind.
He suggested that we go to Cardiff for a day shopping and he also wanted to go to Cardiff Bay as that is where the entrance to Torchwood is, I should mention that we’re both massive nerds and love Doctor Who, Torchwood etc. I kind of knew then that it would be there.
We finished off our day shopping and headed to Cardiff Bay, luckily the sun was shining and it was a beautiful day. We left the car and walked to the spot, my stomach was in knots at this point… We took a look around and got to the “entrance” and sat down for a few minutes. I could see him fumbling in his pocket and got even more excited/nervous. He then pulled out the ring and said “I’m not gonna get down on one knee because there’s people everywhere” Which I was actually so relieved to hear because people looking at us during this situation would have ruined it for both of us. I’ve always said I never wanted to get proposed to with people looking, whipping out their phones and recording us etc! And then “Will you marry me?”
The rest you know.
Being the impatient and organised person I am, I started planning everything right away! We’ve only been engaged for 3 weeks and I know exactly what I want already.
